Daily Davenport Politics: regulating political money

Excerpted from this post at Daily Davenport Politics

The feds are big into trying to regulate money in politics. They put limits on individual contributions so we ended up with PACs, which may have just made matters worse. They tried further regulation of candidate and political party monies and that spawned 527 organizations, which probably did make matters worse.

The fact is that it's like hackers and 'net security pros; it's an on-going war of block, end-run, counter-attack. There is simply too much at stake. Money will find a way.

So today we find feds running for cover about Abramoff. And we have finger-pointing about some of our gubernatorial contributors.
