I haven't even finished reading this editorial, and already it has annoyed me. A flurry of developments has anointed a Republican nominee for governor and narrowed the Democratic field to two heavyweights and a potential spoiler.

What the hell? Ed Fallon isn't a "spoiler." Ralph Nader was a spoiler. Ed Fallon is running in a primary. If he has the support of a substantial plurality of Democrats, then he will be in the general election. If he doesn't, he won't have deprived anyone of the chance to win the race.

He might be an "underdog" or even a "longshot," but "spoiler" is just clearly inappropriate.
