Political Forecast: Fight for gay marriage rights moves on in Iowa

Excerpted from this post at Political Forecast

The Des Moines Register has a great piece today that gives a look towards the future in where the six couples suit against Polk County (on the grounds the state's seven-year old ban is unconstitutional) will be going. Essentially, it looks like this.

By the end of the summer - about six months from now - the first ruling is expected. From there, an appeal will almost be automatic to the Iowa Supreme Court and that ruling wouldn't come for another 18 months, or just about a year and a half after the first decision.

It is going to be a while for a final decision, but no matter what, it will be a huge moment for the state as well as the entire midwest.
