The Bush administration is taking the news media to task for vigorously reporting on two White House-approved intelligence programs they contend are solely to fight the war on terror, and Capitol Republicans are mulling a resolution on the matter. But for U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, a Democrat, the matter is a case of an administration that wants to have it both ways. On Monday in a Nebraska stop, vice president Dick Cheney said "some of the press, particularly the New York Times, have made the job of defending against further terrorist attacks more difficult by insisting on publishing detailed information about vital national security programs."
